An $88,000 referral check from one shared name sounds unreal until you understand how trust, service, and real relationships move money in real estate. We’re sitting down with Jana Truman in her new studio in Brentwood to talk about commercial real estate, generational wealth, and what it looks like to build a legacy without pretending you have it all figured out. If you’ve ever felt behind, unqualified, or simply tired, this conversation is for you.

We walk through Jana’s story, from a childhood love of building to her start in commercial appraisal, and the moment she realized she needed a people-driven path and pivoted into commercial brokerage. From there, we get practical about lead generation for realtors and business owners: volunteering, showing up at networking events, and choosing an abundance mindset over a scarcity mindset. Jana explains why strong residential relationships still matter, how referrals work, and why AI won’t replace human trust in commercial real estate investing.

Then we go deeper on mindset and faith. We talk about the power of “just start,” why waiting until you feel ready keeps you stuck, and how five minutes of action can create momentum. Jana also shares how she thinks about meaning in suffering, hope in dark seasons, and the importance of self-care and boundaries so you can keep giving without burning out.

If you want commercial real estate education that’s clear, grounded, and focused on leaving generational wealth, you’ll also hear about Jana and Brian’s free learning resources, including their Accelerated Generational Wealth series and online content. Subscribe for more conversations like this, share it with someone who needs a lift, and leave a review so more people can find the show. What’s one room you need to walk into next?

Welcome And Guest Introduction

SPEAKER_02

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another Unstoppable Podcast Series. This guest has been a friend of mine for several years now, and I'm so glad to actually be in her office in her brand new podcast studio. And her office is just amazing down here in downtown Brentwood, Miss Jana Truman.

SPEAKER_00

Hello. Welcome. Thank you. I appreciate it.

SPEAKER_02

How are you today?

SPEAKER_00

I am awesome. The sun is shining and it's a beautiful day.

Early Roots Of A Builder

SPEAKER_02

Yes, absolutely. Well, we are very, very blessed to have you on the show. You have a plethora of knowledge when it comes to commercial real estate, education for people, telling them how to learn and build their wealth and their business because her husband and her really want to leave people with generational wealth and they are putting the tools and the work in place to do so. So there's so much that we can unpack. I know we're limited on time today, but we want to get to just as much as we can. If we have to come back one day and do another one, we will. But I just want people to kind of really just start with knowing how who you are and the roots of what made Janet Treatman, Janet Treatman. So I'll let you take the stage for a minute, Janet. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I am a commercial real estate agent. That's my job, but I help people improve their standard of living so that they can improve their standard of giving. That's really what we're all about. I love that. We really do truly want to help people build wealth and to break the chains of their financial past, if you will, and help them to learn about investment in commercial real estate and help them so that they can leave a legacy for their family or for their community, depending on what they want to be.

SPEAKER_02

And I love when she says this, she says this a lot when you hear her speak. If you've ever been honored to hear her speak before, it improve the the standard of living so that you can improve your standard of giving. That means a lot to me. And that registers to a lot of my listeners and me as ourselves, and you have really done that. You and Brian pour into people all the time. That's one of the reasons I think we're such good friends that you have such a servant's heart and you give back. What made you go into this space? There's so many things that you could have done because you're a very smart woman. You have a lot of hats, many talents.

SPEAKER_00

I actually do.

SPEAKER_02

You do wear hats. Isn't that crazy? But what made you decide, okay, I'm gonna go into commercial real estate, and this is how we're gonna find this path here?

SPEAKER_00

Sure. Well, when I was a little girl, the only purpose my dolls served was for the scale for the buildings that I built them. And I lived in a neighborhood that had all boys, and I was the queen fort builder. Yeah. So I built all the best forts, right? And of course, the boys wanted to be a member of my fort because I would not let them in unless they were part of the club. So so early on, I had a love of building and building, you know, building buildings. Right. But I came from an older traditional background where being a developer or an architect wasn't really an acceptable thing for a woman to do at the time. And I decided to do go into art, actually. I want I knew that I wanted to be a mom.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I knew that I wanted to have kids. And so I wanted to have a job that was going to be conducive to me to being able to be a mom. And I thought, well, if I go into graphic design, that will be a really great way for me to be able to, you know, do art on the side and help my family, but still keep my creative juices flowing and that kind of thing. Well, when my youngest son turned 12, my husband and I decided we wanted to start a family business. And I had already gotten gone to college and gotten degrees, and I wasn't really keen on going back and getting more education. And I thought about getting an MBA. And I thought, where do I want to learn about starting a business? And a friend of mine was starting a commercial real estate appraisal business from scratch. He had been working for someone else, and he was going to, he was going out on his own for the first time. And I thought, here is a chance for me to get a real life MBA. Right. I love all the things about real estate. I, Brian and I, as you mentioned, he and I'd been involved in the community. I was part of the economic development committee. I knew about zoning. I knew about you municipal codes and all those kinds of things. And I thought I knew quite a bit about real estate. Of course, I found out how little I actually knew. But my friend wanted me to come and work for him. And he actually, I think the reason why he picked me is because he thought he could trust me to be around his family while because his business he was going to have to start from his house. And so I think he was really not necessarily looking at me as being someone who was super talented, right? But just trustworthy to be around. Right, exactly. And fortunately for me, I won the lottery in a bunch of different ways. One, I didn't know that being a commercial real estate appraiser means that you have to be an apprentice, and that means someone has to take you on under their wing. You can't just wake up one day and say, I'm going to be a commercial real estate appraiser.

SPEAKER_02

Right. It's it's you have to have that groundwork.

SPEAKER_00

You have to have someone who's going to sign on your reports. I didn't know that. So one blessing deal.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

Pivot From Appraisal To Brokerage

SPEAKER_00

Another thing that I didn't know is that those folks that are in that world normally have to pay for their own education because the employers typically want them to stay at the low pay for a long period of time. And so they'll teach them just enough to do what they need to do, but they won't let them necessarily progress. And the gentleman that I worked for, he paid for me to go to all the best schools and classes all around. So I would have really won in that version also. And then the other thing that I won the uh lottery on is that back back at the time, they don't do this anymore, but there they had when someone was going to become an MAI, which is the highest to be an appraiser, you had to submit this mother of all demonstration reports, a report, which is a sample, and it would be graded by a certain select few in the United States, and they would go through and make sure that your work was up to muster. And I I didn't know this, but I actually was working for one of then at the time one of the 10 national demo graders. So he wasn't just any old appraiser, he was a patient, he did all the this great training, and I even was accepted in the first place, which was a big deal. But at the end of the day, I figured out that my job was going to be sitting in a cubicle, that I would be led out to go and and measure and to take pictures of of a building twice a week, and that I would then go back and fill in the blanks of a template that is a math report that is upwards of 75 pages and rinse repeat for the rest of my life. And I went, I can't do that. I am I like people too much. I loved everything about real estate, so then I just pivoted and I became a commercial realtor instead of a commercial real estate appraiser.

SPEAKER_01

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_00

And that so I started as an appraiser in 2011 and then I became a realtor in 2014. So I've been doing it ever since. That's amazing. So now I help people buy, sell, and lease commercial real estate and help investors and all the different levels, whether you're aspirational, you're doing your first one, or you have a large portfolio. I help people with their their dreams to be able to achieve whatever it is. Whatever it is they want.

Networking That Actually Creates Leads

SPEAKER_02

And, you know, people often wonder, you know, like with Jenna's knowledge, of like, oh gosh, I feel like I have to be at a certain level, maybe to have her mentor me, or maybe go out to eat, or things like that. You have a class, which we'll go more into in a little bit, where you pour into people at any level, right? Any level. And that's what I think some people where they get stuck. And I know my listeners, they might be like, well, I'm called to do something bigger. I just don't know where to start. And they may look at someone like you that has a ton of education and a ton of degrees, and they might be intimidated. Exactly. And that's and that's why she is very approachable. You can ask her questions when we go to lunch. I love it because I love picking her mind and asking questions on things. I think one of the questions we had a couple weeks ago was what would you tell realtors? What was it? We were with their eating. I said, What would you tell realtors when the market's so slow? Like, how do you generate business? How do you generate leads? And you know, it is one networking, but you tell a little bit what you would suggest on that. Because some of these people that do listen are active realtors right now. Sure.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, sure. Well, people are the ones that have the money, right? So it is just get out there and meet people.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

And one of my favorite ways to meet people is to service. So we do a lot of volunteer work. So, for example, we're our our company, we're volunteering at Habitat for Humanity on Friday. Wonderful. And in a couple of weeks, we're going to be volunteering at the community center. And when we do that, we get to meet other people in the community that are also volunteer-minded. And that is a really great way to meet people. Right. I don't really like to do business at church, but I do meet a lot of people from church. So there's that. There's relationship building. Right. Right. But for example, I went to an event last night that was a women's networking event. And I have started going to more of those lately because first off, I just want friends. Yeah. Right. I mean, we all need more friends. Yeah, community is so important. Right, right. And I used to think if I was going to go to an association or a meeting where there's a lot of other quote unquote competition, that that would be a bad thing, right? And I didn't have an abundance mindset. And when I switched over and thought, I wonder if there's a way that I can bless their lives and make a friend. Right. Well, uh, where better am I going to find people who have similar interests to me than in a room full of other realtors? Right. Right. Exactly. And in fact, in in my role, we are the most referred commercial brokerage by residential realtors for that very reason. Because we help them look good with for their clients. And since we don't do residential, we don't siphon off the residential leads for that agent. Right. Right. They stay theirs. And we just do the commercial side.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Right. But if so if they're already making calls or already doing lead generation for their own selves, all they have to do is say, Do you know somebody who's interested in commercial real estate? And even though they're not necessarily qualified, they flip us a name. We send them a check just for the referral. The referral. Yeah. Last year, our largest referral check, ironically, was to a luxury agent who gave us a name. And it was she didn't even really qualify the person. She just gave us the name. So no relationship building or anything. She got a lead off of her website. And we gave her a check for$88,000. That was her referral check.

SPEAKER_02

Wow. Wow. That is amazing. Yeah. That is so amazing. Pretty happy. See, that is so good to hear that because, like I said, I know some of the listeners for sure are realtors in that space. I bet y'all didn't even know that. That that that they didn't have that offer there. So that's so good for them to know that that is something that is that given there for sure. Now, as far as so, so the authentic relationship and community is just something that's so important in that aspect. And we were just talking about realtors and how important it is that your relationship, when you go to a realtor event, like some people use it as, well, they're in my space and it is competition. But like you said, when you said the abundance mindset, you have to have that in anything in life, especially this type of business. Referraling partners, things like that. Like if you didn't know that referral check,$88,000 would change somebody's life, you know, for some things. So just having that name and referral, and that you're honest and good enough where you can be like, hey, you just gave us a name, but we're gonna pay you a referral fee on that. That just has a lot about your character and who you and Bronn are in your company, too.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we had to close the transaction. Yeah. So not all the deals are gonna close. Right, exactly. The key here is that she didn't have to worry whether she she didn't have to qualify that person. She didn't have to go, is this a good referral or not?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

She just sent us the name, we sent her the re the referral agreement, and and we qualified that person and then we closed that transaction. But I want to back up a little bit because I think the key here for, especially in the residential real estate world, I have a huge amount of respect for the relationship building that residential realtors do. Yes. So I think that's really important. People often have a really strong relationship of trust with their residential agent. And I personally believe that with what's going on in the world right now, that is going to be harder and harder and harder. And as people are talking a lot about AI and how that's going to impact commercial real estate or even residential real estate. And at the end of the day, I think it's still all about the relationships.

SPEAKER_02

I'm too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I think AI can help make us be speed up and be better and more efficient, but they're not going to take the place of just meeting people at coffee shops, just reaching out and striking up a conversation in the groceries, grocery store line or you know, all those different ways. I think going to conferences and education opportunities is a great way to meet people.

Show Up Before You Feel Ready

SPEAKER_02

Very much so. Putting yourself in rooms with bigger thinking people. Right. I mean, I totally agree with that. I mean, if it wasn't for the the job that I did before before when I met you, I would never have met you in Brian, you know, and that comes of being in bigger rooms and people at conferences and stuff, whether you're hosting them, which we know you have done really big conferences yourself where you poured into people or going to them or being a part of them. It's just about getting out of your comfort zone because I've said this before. There's times we both, we're moms, we're workers, we're going a million miles a minute, giving back to our community, to things that we love. But there's times where we do get tired and we're, yeah, what's that word? Yeah, yeah, there's not enough coffee in here. What? There's just times where we're tired and we just don't feel like showing up. We still do, we still do. But those times at the end of the day when there's a happy hour or an event that to go to that have to be up really early in the morning, and I'm like, oh my gosh, I gotta be there at 7 a.m. and I gotta find, you know, move the kids around and do this and do that to get them there. And I can find a million reasons not to do it, but I still show up and do it. Those are usually the connections that make the best at, and that I have the the best time and the takeaways, and I just feel so uplifted and I make those community connections that we're talking about that lead into something. So even like this podcast, like I don't know what you're gonna see on the editor night. Me and Janice had this plan for a while. We come in, I break a lamp, the TV comes on, we've had to do retakes. I don't know what you're gonna get the final product, but I'm telling you, anything that's worth something, there's gonna be friction in transaction that's gonna happen during that transaction, but you're just gonna keep doing it anyways. And you just show up. And we talk about that a lot on my podcast, Janna. And I know me and you've talked about it before, just showing up and starting sometimes is all we need to do. Putting yourself in those rooms, going to those events. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Well, here's something that I've been focused on a lot lately, and I think that it talks about mindset, right? So I sometimes am guilty of thinking that I have to wait until I feel like it. And I'm never gonna feel like it. Yes. I'm not ever gonna feel like it. Right. But I recognize that if I get my shoes on and I go out the door, that once I'm there, I'm gonna be fine. Yes. So even with something as simple as exercise, I don't even make a goal of I'm going to exercise for 45 minutes. I my goal is I am going to exercise for five minutes. I'm going to get my clothes on and I'm going to go and I have a rowing machine at home and I am at him. I'm going to go sit on that rowing machine, even if it's just five minutes. Because once I get in the action of doing it, then I'll keep doing it. Right. The momentum is already started. Right. So I think the mindset, you and I talk a lot about mindset, is if I were waiting until I was comfortable or until I felt qualified or until I felt like it, nothing would ever get done because I'm always uncomfortable. Right. You're right. I'm always tired. You know, so last night is an example. I went to this event, which is a women's event. And I had I had to get up at seven. My my first meeting was at 7.15, and it was a networking option. And this meeting that I went to last night didn't even start until 5:30 or 6. And so now I am on going on 11 or 12 hours on my day, crazy enough. And I went with the attitude, I just need to meet one person that I can connect with that that could make it be worth my while. And as I was talking to this woman, I just randomly went up to this woman and just started talking to her. And she admitted to me after we talked for a minute, she goes, You are an answer to prayer. I prayed before I came to this event. I said, please have somebody be willing to just come up and talk to me that might be helpful in my business. And she says, and you came up and started talking to me. She says, You're an answer to prayer. Wow. And I thought, well, if I had to stay at home, how could I be an answer to somebody's prayer? Yeah. Right? Absolutely. So I thought about that. It just really hit me hard. Yeah. We don't know when we're going to be the answer to someone else's prayer. Yeah. Right. And at the end of the day, had I said, I'm too tired or I'm not. Now, I want to I want to also pause because I do think there's such a thing as self-care.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I do. I do. There are some boundaries with this, right? Yes.

SPEAKER_00

God does not expect us to run faster than we're able. Absolutely. And we as women are guilty of that. We will go until we're on fumes.

SPEAKER_02

And then guilt trip ourselves that we don't do enough. Right, right.

SPEAKER_00

So I want to make sure that I'm clear here that I was not on fumes. I was just feeling lazy. And there's a really big difference. Yes, absolutely. Right. Because I don't want to have anybody in your audience to feel less than because they can't tolerate it an 11 or 12 hour day. Yeah. That please, please, please don't take that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's only if you feel like you can go another mile. Go another mile, then do. Absolutely. Ed Milet is, I'm a big fan of his just do one more. The power one more. The power one more. Like that. So that's kind of my my mantra. Yeah. So in my case last night, I was like, I think I know I I feel like I can do this. I'm going to go ahead and do this. I did it, and I ended up being able to be there to help someone else feel like that God was paying attention to her. Yeah. Because I was kind, and and it turns out we're actually going to be able to help each other in business. See? So amazing. Really an amazing opportunity.

SPEAKER_02

That is amazing. And just, and you know, I call them little God winks and nudges. Like you know, if you're in a room and God's like, go talk to that person, you know that that's him. But you never would have had the opportunity, like you said, if you wasn't there to begin with. You showed up. Yeah. And even if you didn't want to, showing up does not mean that you're all perfectly dressed and everything's manicured out and things like that. It may be at the end of the day where your makeup's off and you go anyways. You know, I've had tons of events like that. I've had mornings that start like that. I always tell myself in the morning when my alarm goes off and I want to hit snooze is you're not going to want to do this. Just get up. You don't have to be happy about it. Like, be happy you're alive. You know, yeah, you thank God I'm alive. But like just get up and get going and let the morning start. And like you said, if it's rolling for five minutes and it turns into 30, great. If not, you have five minutes that you wouldn't have had if you didn't start, you know. So, and that's so many things, like how many blessings that you've given to people by what you're in right now. And if you didn't start and if you didn't push through those hard times, because you were a mom before 2011, right? And you were raising babies and you were doing that. So you hit a you had a just a huge career change. You went from being mom to you know, boss babe and all the things, and you already had the education and you were already doing big things. So I don't want people to look at some of my guests that have a ton of education and a ton of just knowledge. Janna has a she's a very smart woman. She's very educated. Don't let that intimidate you because she still had to start and put in the work. You can still do that no matter what level education you are. I know realtors that have never gone to college. I know, you know, that are highly successful and things like that. I think that sometimes people don't come to these events that we have because they feel like they need to be a certain level before they get there. It's almost like that in faith. Like, I gotta get to a certain level before I start going to church, you know? And I'm like, no, just show up and figure it out as you go. That's what we're doing. We're figuring it out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think uh I'm not what I'm gonna say might be a little controversial. Yeah, no. So we as women, you know, we we have to deal with from a very, very young age, we uh, you know, let's just think it about dealing with our cycles. Yeah. We have the we're uncomfortable for certain parts of the month, yeah. Right. And when we're taught from a very young age to just get used to it and deal with the discomfort. Yeah. And I think that's a huge advantage. Yeah. You know, I don't know. It's like a superpower. We don't know we have, right? Yeah. Women don't realize what a superpower they have because they they have to go forward and do things even when they're deeply uncomfortable. Absolutely. And it doesn't mean that again, that we go faster than we are meant. Right. But I don't know if your husband is this way, but if mine gets a cold, he that the the end is nigh. We joke about that a lot, yeah. Like, you know, it's like if there's the slightest discomfort, then you know it's gotta be bad or whatever. And we're like, wait, what? Wait, what?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's where our empathy you're like, I'm trying to be empathetic, but no.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, yeah. There's not a lot of it to be because I'm like, do you do realize what I do every day, all day long, and sometimes even though I'm literally bleeding today, we're still showing up, yeah. So I feel like that's a superpower that a lot of women don't realize that we have. Yeah, but I also think that as a general rule, women have a tendency to want to appear on top of everything. Yes. I honestly I like to look good, I like to be socially acceptable, but I am okay with being embarrassed. Yeah, yes, and I think that is probably another superpower because I am okay to be a beginner. That's good. I'm okay to not know everything, right? To to stink at something until I don't. Right? Because there's there are so many things that I do that when I started out, I like for example, I am I'm learning Spanish. I am okay with the fact that most of the time they're they're laughing and secretly laughing at me because I don't speak it perfectly. But how am I gonna learn it unless I fumble through it and practice it? Right, right, right. So that's a goal of mine. I'm going to be fluent in Spanish by the end of my days. Yeah. And I'm a I'm conversational now and I'm pretty good and can understand a lot more than I can speak. Yeah. But that's a goal. And I'm gonna I stink at it at the moment, but that's okay. I'm gonna get better.

SPEAKER_02

You're keeping pushing three.

SPEAKER_00

So mark my words.

Free Classes On Generational Wealth

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you will get it. You will, yes, and I and I love it. I will. There you go. Yeah, um my brother had my Spanish book in high school after I had had it prior. And he's like, Mom, Megan drew in her Spanish book a lot. Yeah, yeah. I wish I had taken more, you know, time to really learn because you know, there's so much it could have helped me in in our business today that it would have given us a leg up is for sure to be able to communicate more effectively. But yeah, I was too busy doodling at the time, high school girl. But uh anyway, so going to speaking on education, let's talk a little bit about what you and Brian provide here in in your office in Brentwood. Sure.

SPEAKER_00

So we have a bunch of different things that people can use to learn. First off, we have a learning series called Accelerated Generational Wealth, which is quarterly. Our next one is coming up in May. We will be having people talk about building and how to alleviate risk if you're going to buy a building. And so we're going to be talking about fire, emergency services, commercial insurance, all the things to help eliminate risk. That is free. Anybody can join, be either on Zoom or in person. That would be a great network. Yeah, it wouldn't be. But that is for the community, is just for us to be able to give back and to teach people how to invest in commercial real estate and all the best practices. We are involved in real estate investors of Nashville, which are our RIN, and uh we do one of my agents that works with me, she is over the women's investment advisory group. And then my husband, Brian, he does the multifamily uh education group. And so we actually provide through RIN a lot of those, and then all of our videos and podcasts and things that we do are also available on YouTube literally for free. Yeah. So we don't charge for any of this educational. Yeah. And the main reason that we do that is that if we believe that more people would invest in commercial real estate if they just had more information, if they knew where they could go to find better deals, if they knew the process, if they had the right mindset, if they had the right advisor, whether it's us or someone else, how do you even pick an advisor to help you? And how do you what does that even look like to even do that? Even if, you know, can you if you're just in that dreaming aspirational stage, what does it take for you to be bankable?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, how do you get the capital out to do it, right? Right. A lot of people don't even think they don't they don't even let their minds go there because they're like, gosh, I couldn't even never do that. And that until I got into this space of real estate, I didn't realize how many investors started out with zero and they built their capital along the way. They just had the right people to invest with them to get there. But that comes with networking and being in rooms with people that do this. So that's it's very, very doable. And and you break it down in a way people can understand that and you answer questions if they have that. How can they find how when one, when those classes are, how to register to be a part of them, whether it's in person or Zoom, how can they find that?

SPEAKER_00

Well, our website is acelcre.com. Okay. And any of our events are going to be listed on that website, and all of our YouTube links are also listed on that website so they can go in and consume the content that way.

SPEAKER_01

Awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Myself and my husband Brian, we are guests on a lot of podcasts. So this podcast, obviously. Right. But uh Brian has his own podcast as well. And pretty much just through our websites probably and it's an Eventbrite link so that you can register for any of the events that we and you can follow and see.

SPEAKER_02

I love how Eventbrite does that. Yeah, that's good. That's awesome. And then you have your personal pages as well, as well. And so if you are a realtor listening, you can reach out to Jana or Braun Treeman and about referral deals, things like that, how they can get in touch with you.

SPEAKER_00

We have kind of a another, I don't know if it I would say a weird claim to thing, but I'm honored that we are becoming known as the Realtors Realtors. So when real estate agents want to invest themselves and they are just learning, we can help them learn how to invest also. Yes. So other realtors hire us to represent them in their uh initial commercial transactions. Yes. And I take that honor very seriously, right? That is that that is huge. That's kind of a big deal. It is, right? Yeah. And that isn't to say that they won't eventually be capable of doing it on their own, but if they're just first starting out, then they don't want to make mistakes. They want to make sure that they know what they're doing. Absolutely. And and we're here to help.

Faith Mindset And Meaning In Hard Days

SPEAKER_02

And I can vouch for that a hundred percent. They're very honest, very raw, very organic people that love to serve. And they will tell you if it is something's a good deal or a bad deal, or if you're not ready yet, you need a little bit more education, they will set you on the right path there for sure. So I knew this podcast was going to be a broad podcast just to do the timing and stuff. There's so much more to unpack with Jana. She has, she can go back to her history of who she was and how she became herself today. And we can get on that's definitely another podcast for another time. But I do want to take this as we are putting about your business and the educational aspect of it and what commercial real estate means. What would you say to somebody that's listening today that may not be in real estate, just may be stuck right now? We talked about showing up. We know I know that's super important, but they just feel like everything they do is just never works out for them. And we know me and you know talking what this is and its mindset, stuff like that. But we have listeners sometimes and and they'll message and they're just like, you know, that's great. That's awesome that you guys are doing it and that you figured it out, but I can't figure it out. What would you say to that listener today?

SPEAKER_00

Well, let's talk about that in degrees. So we just celebrated Easter, so hopefully this. No, no, it's very faith-based. We're good. But so I am a believer and I am a I am one that sometimes when I have really, really dark, dark days and I feel like the world is closing around me, and I might as well be in a tomb. We went from a dark tomb, and in three days the whole world changed. And I think sometimes we in the moment we think that nothing can change or that we're stuck. But I think if you sometimes if you just wait and let God do his work, that things will be put in place. And I'm a I'm a huge believer that all things work together for the good of those who look to the Lord. Yeah. So in that, in that context, then if you're in that place where you're feeling stuck, just hang in there. Hang on, wait three days. Let God do his work. He's going to put people in your path, or he's going to give you calm in your heart. It will become apparent to you what you should do eventually. Yeah. He'll he'll speak to you. He'll speak to you, yeah. That's right. Um, and there are times when I I'm real I'm hanging on, you know, just back in the olden days, there's a there's a poster in the 1980s of the little kitty hanging on by the claw on the rope, you know, and it says hang in there. Hang in in there, kitty, yeah. Right. Sometimes I feel like I'm the little kitty thing and all the things. But um I uh sometimes I feel like I'm that that person, but I also believe that I'm not gonna be stretched beyond my capacity to bear. And I do believe that all of this is for my growth and my good, and that I am going to learn. And in order for me to be able to be fit to be in his kingdom, I have to be stretched. I feel that. Yeah. So I I think maybe how I embrace or look at my trials may have an aspect of why I don't give up, is because I could I am truly looking for ways that this can be combined for my good. How can I learn from this? How can I take what my situation is? And is there a glimmer of hope somewhere where I can go towards that glimmer, that light, yeah, and find a way to turn it into good? When I was young, I had the opportunity to read a book called Man's Search for Meaning Meaning by Victor Frankel. And I don't know if you've ever heard of that book, but if any of your listeners, it's not an easy read because Viktor Frankel was a psychologist during the he was a prisoner in Auschwitz. Oh, and he studied how people survived in Auschwitz, and those that survived versus those that didn't. And he was able to figure out that when people found meaning in their suffering, they could last. But when they could not see any reason or they lost hope, then they would they would literally die.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So what is the meaning for some of us? It's our kids. We hang on because we want to take care of our babies.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Right. In spite of all the things that are going on, we do what we need to do because we're moms.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_00

Right? That's right. We're going to figure out a way to take care of our babies. Yeah. And that is a so such a noble cause. But, you know, kids do grow older and sometimes they they are ungrateful and sometimes they are not gonna reciprocate and they may not appreciate any of the things or any of the sacrifices that you did. Does that mean that your sacrifice was less noble because they didn't recognize it? No. At the end of the day, it is recognizing that we are all engaged in noble causes if we choose to do so. And I know that when I'm engaged in a noble cause, that makes all of these things tolerable. Right. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I love that. That is so beautifully said, Jana. And I always say, like, if you don't feel blessed or you feel like you're going through it, go find somebody to serve.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

And you're going to feel blessed. I have been many times where I just felt in a pit or I just felt like I was up air under, up air, you know, just constantly like this, up and down. And I would find somebody to serve or just start saying to get outside yourself, or just start saying what you're thankful for audibly. You know, like days were that are hard. I was in a very stressful situation not too long ago, and I was in a room where it was just high stress, and I just had a legal pad, and I started writing everything I was thankful for in that moment. When people should be stressed and cracking and crying and probably heartbeating fast, I just started writing what I'm thankful for.

SPEAKER_01

What a great exercise.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm telling you, it made me go back into the peace of God. Like there's no other way it could, I could have been through that moment that I went through if it wasn't for the strength and the peace of the Lord. But I think God told me to use my mindset that He gave us the ability, that He gave us to find, to ground ourselves in that, to write it down. And that's what I did. And so anytime I start stressing, like if I'm in the car, and it's over silly things, but it's like I gotta do this, this, this, this today, I'm gonna do this, I gotta make sure I get this taken care of. I'll just start being like, okay, I'm thankful for this. I'm thankful I had more energy. And it can be little things, you know, we have to find little wins sometimes to celebrate until those big wins come. Absolutely. And that carries us through, kind of like what you said with that book. Like you have to find peace and the blessing, even in the chaos sometimes, for you to be able to make it to the next day and help somebody else. And gosh, when you do, when you make it and you realize you made it, the the I can't describe the feeling. It's just, it's just like it's like such a rejoicing feeling. But then you're gonna be able to take that experience and share it with somebody else and pay it forward and you're gonna recognize it. You're gonna see it on people's faces. Like I know you would recognize if somebody was suffering. I know a mom that's unstoppable women. Like I know when I'm at a grocery store and I see that mama pull up her phone and she's like looking. I know she's not looking on Facebook, but she's looking to make sure she has enough in her bank account. And I know that because I've been there. I experienced that, and now I can bless her. And if I didn't have that walk that I went through, I wouldn't have known that look, I wouldn't have recognized it.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

So sometimes that might be while we go through what we go through, so we can bless others because God knows your heart, He knows you're here to serve, and that's what your calling is. Right. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I think also that we try to do it on our own. We think that we have to be strong enough in and of ourselves. And I don't I'm just here to tell you I'm not. Well, same. If if if it is just left up to me, I would fail miserably. But I happen to know someone who is who is a creator of the universe. Yeah, and all things are, and if if it is his will, I will succeed. And I have to believe, and I and I move every day with this premise that he wants me to succeed and that he will help me do so myself. So, really and truly, it means that you put boundaries on your giving, not in the sense that you're you're you're not gonna be an overgiver, you're not gonna be a martyr. Right, you're going to give what you can and you're gonna take care of yourself so that you have something to give.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because you if you don't have it to give, you can't give it. You can't pull for an empty cup, right? Right, right. So you want to make sure that you have something to give. So sell it's all starts with self-care.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yes, absolutely. And people can't forget that.

SPEAKER_00

It's not selfish, forget it. It is not self-care is not selfish.

SPEAKER_02

Please understand that it is not selfish because how many times I've had to tell myself it wasn't selfish when I did it, you know.

SPEAKER_00

You have to you you have to take care of yourself in order for you to help and bless other people.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

But Victor Frankel noticed that the people that survived were the people who shared their bread. The people that survived were the people who gave their blanket when they didn't need it. Yeah. Yeah. So finding that noble cause, recognizing who your partners are, recognizing that no matter how dark it seems, things will get better, and that all things can work toward your good. All those things, I think, as long as your partner happens to be unstoppable, which mine does. Yes, absolutely. Then at the end of the day, I I can truly be unstoppable.

Final Charge And How To Connect

SPEAKER_02

You can. And and and you have shown that many times in this the time that I've known you as well. And I know we're getting ready to wrap up and close to an end here. In closing, you've already told people how to follow you about your educational classes, and I really want to hit on that again. It's come the next one's coming up in May. What would what do you want to leave our listeners with? I mean, we've we've left them with a lot of good nuggets to take away, uh, more so than I get to in some of my podcasts altogether. So, and I always know that we're gonna we're gonna bring them the the the nuggets when we're together. But what's one thing that you would like to leave in your closing here today?

SPEAKER_00

I I think I would invite your listeners to not put limits on God. I think you may not realize when you look in the mirror who you really are. You may think you are this, and God may have this plan for you, He may have a much bigger blessing. And I I just invite your listeners to open yourselves up to the bigger blessing. Yeah, don't think small because God will literally uh broaden the path in front of you if it is his will.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And the key here is to just not give up and to look for those opportunities because he will put them in your path. But if you are thinking small, you won't see them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's gotta be a shifting mind.

SPEAKER_00

You have to open up your mind to the possibility that God has big things planned for you. I love that, and then don't put limits on him. We already are have limits, but God does not, right? So he will work with our limits and he will, you know, the cracked pots, right? The the the the cracked vessels. He he can still accomplish his work even with me, puny me. Yeah, right. But I have to be willing. Right. So if that means we talk about showing up, but I think it goes back even further to believing that it is possible. Absolutely, and it isn't a belief in Jana. It's I'm not, I don't necessarily have a belief that I can do it. I have a belief that if it's God's will, he can do it. So if he can do it, if it is his will, then I need to be open to it, even if it's big. Get ready.

SPEAKER_02

Because it because it will be, it will be. If you ask to be a vessel, sometimes you're gonna be you're gonna be uncomfortable.

SPEAKER_00

You're gonna be uncomfortable, you will be uncomfortable.

SPEAKER_02

He's gonna stretch you, but you are gonna be able to do it, and the reward is so amazing in the end. And it's not all you. No, it's not. Always give him the thanks and credit for it for sure. I love every bit of that, Jana. I hope you guys have have gotten some great nuggets out of this. Like I said, I know you have, I know I have. It's always a blessing to be able to come and talk to you, whether it's over lunch, on a podcast, whatever. I consider you a great friend and I cherish that. Thank you so much for your friendship.

SPEAKER_00

Pleasure, and I'm so happy to have been invited. Thank you for letting me share what I I think is important.

SPEAKER_02
